Updating Pet Tutor Over The Air

How to update the software(firmware) inside the Pet Tutor® Feeder and Smart Clicker™

(Instructions apply to Generation 3 products ONLY i.e. anything shipped since 2018)

These instructions are used to update the programs in either the feeder or the Smart Clicker™ This process uses the Bluetooth® connection between your PHONE or TABLET and a Pet Tutor® device.

Getting ready:

  1. Firmware Files. Make sure you have an email from us with  software files attached for the feeder and Smart Clicker.
     
    The files attached to our email will be named like this:
    • FEEDER_v314.cyacd    (release date 14AUG2018)
    • SMART_CLICKER_V205.cyacd  (release date 4SEP2018)
    You may only need one of the files depending on which Pet Tutor devices you have.
    If you do not have the email yet request it from Support@PetTutor.biz and include your order# or feeder serial# (e.g. F320001234)
    Note: The videos say the email will come from Wes Anderson but it may come from PetTutor@SmartAnimalTraining.com or from Lisa at Polite Paws for Australian customers.
  2. Install updating apps. You will also need to install the app CySmart on your phone (Android users will also need the app MyFiles).
     
  3. Cautions during updating
    • Turn off the feeder when updating the Smart Clicker. Ensure correct files go to each respective device(Feeder,Smart Clicker). 
    • Do not turn off devices during updating
    • Close all other apps and disconnect other Bluetooth devices that use audio(ex Bluetooth headsets)
    • Avoid phone calls during the update.
    • Keep the phone close to the feeder or Smart Clicker(about 1-2 feet).

iOS(Apple) Instructions

1. First install the app CySmart(iOS) on your phone.

       Smart Clicker™ updating:

      Before updating make sure you have a fresh coin battery ready but do not put it in the Smart Clicker™ until you are ready to begin the update per instructions. Then put the battery in.  Next you need to connect to the phone ..

      a. If the blue led starts flashing open CySmart and connect to "PTCLICK"

      b. If the led is not flashing...press and hold on the left button(rough) and press release the right button until you see the led turn blue. At that point release both buttons and the led should start flashing blue. Now open CySmart and connect to "PTCLICK"
